Bacon Twists

I know, bacon doesn't seem that healthy at all. But here at Flexible Fasting, you can eat this sometimes food and not feel guilty and regret it. And bacon is more healthy than you realize!

A typical slice (8g) of cooked bacon contains:

* 3 grams of high-quality animal protein

* Vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5, B6 and B12

* selenium, phosphorus, iron, magnesium, zinc, and potassium

The fats in bacon are about 50% monounsaturated and a large part of those is oleic acid. This is the same heart-healthy fatty acid in olive oil. The remaining fat in bacon is 40% saturated and 10% polyunsaturated as well as a decent amount of cholesterol.

Twist slices of bacon by anchoring the slice on a parchment lined baking sheet with one hand and twisting with the other. Bake in the oven at 400 for 18-20 minutes, depending on how crispy you like your bacon.

These fun twists are great appetizers at a party or as part of your weekend brunch. Dip them in sweet chili sauce and you've got a party in your mouth!
